The Polka-Dots

HA HA HA. Very funny. Now how do we change this layout? Someone help... please?

Comedic Top 5

By the way, where da hell are the women on your list Michael? By the way, YOURE WELCOME!

After that comment, I have to deliver- for my own species. So this list is dedicated to the ladies. Holler! (I just said that last thing out loud in the most ridiculously sarcastic Gwen Stefani voice ever. And I was stomping. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.)

1. Tina Fey is pretty much the queen of funny in my very humble and not very funny opinion. So this number 1 might not make sense to a lot of people. Of course, those people are going straight to hell.
2. Amy Poehler- More because of Mean Girls than SNL and more because of Baby Mamma than anything else (IMDB that shit.)
3. Parker Posey- 99.9% of people won't get this choice. That's because 99.9% of people aren't Liza Shore. That also means that Liza Shore is only .1% of a person.
4. Kristin Wiig- She is the gem of the current season of SNL. If you ever meet my sister, ask her to do the Target skit. Seriously, ask her. You'll pee in your pants. (Maybe that was just me. Just me? Ok.)
5. Rachel Dratch- I'm well aware of the fact that choosing Rachel Dratch as my number 5 means I just chose 4 out of 5 top comedic women of all time who happen to have been members of SNL within the past five years. But just remember- I chose Parker Posey too. Explain THAT.

My face actually is Polish.

In case you're wondering who that other girl was who hauled 40lbs up the stairs (see below) well that was our very own michael a. short (the a is short for a-HOLE.)

on a scale of oh gad to brooother, i give myself a CRIPES!

Comedic Top 5

So, our first joint entry and the topic is...(mental drum roll, or out loud if you're alone)

Who are the Top 5 comedic actors (male or female) who consistently deliver, are not all over the movie scene ala Ben Stiller (though I could see Alina picking him anyway) and who, because of their amazing track record, should be in every comedy film, if only just a cameo, that is released. Bear in mind, the goal is to avoid the people like Adam Sandler, Steve Carrell and the likes because we all know they are hilarious and funny, so we needn't debate that topic. And it’s a personal top 5 of people we like so deal with it.

My list is the following:

#5 - Will Arnett
Anyone who has seen the show "Arrested Development" understand that the magician Gob Bluthe is one of the funniest characters perhaps in television history. This character is played by Will Arnett, husband to SNL funny-lady Amy Poehler, and one of the more up-and-coming comedic people in film. This dude is hilarious. From the villainous rival in the Will Ferrell film "Blades of Glory" to the variety of other movies he has coming out, looks to be 1o by 2009 according to iMDB.com, it seems that Hollywood is going to shovel Will Arnett down our throats and turn him into the next guy people thought was hilarious until we saw him in every movie in every possible role until the mere appearance of him on-screen makes people question life, again, ala Ben Stiller. Oh well. He is still a riot right now, so check him out if you're not familiar. Funny guy. Quite.

#4 - Seth Rogen
Seth Rogen is a writer/actor who has been in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and the soon-to-be-released "Knocked Up," both films which he also had a hand in producing. His role in Virgin was hilarious and his scene with Paul Rudd (Dubbed the "You know how I know you're gay?" scene) is timeless. If you like laughing, I would suggest him to you because he is, what they call, funny.
Rogen is not the most well-known dude and will probably never be the big name lead actor, partly because of his skills as a producer and writer, but nonetheless his involvement in films alone adds a style of humor that is dry, subtle and completely awesome.

#3 - Andy Samberg
Andy Samberg will undoubtedly be the next SNL alum to move on to continued hilarity. The guy already pens most of the funnier skits on SNL, including the majority of the SNL Digital Shorts, and is also a part of The Lonely Island comedy group (http://www.thelonelyisland.com/).
Andy is in a soon-to-be released film called "Hot Rod" in which he plays a daredevil driver who attempts to jump 15 buses on a moped in an attempt to raise money for his abusive stepfather Frank’s life-saving heart operation. He’ll land the jump, get Frank better, and then fight him, hard. This is a fantastic synopsis and a movie I will see and you will too if you enjoy laughing.

#2 - Will Ferrell
Okay, I buckled. I caved in. I had to go with one blockbuster, super-famous actor and why not? If anyone has given me more laughter, from SNL to movies, in the last 10 years than Will Ferrell, it's my duty to include him on this list. I didn't give him number one because he's an obvious one seed and I don't want to seem predictable or girls will no longer be attracted to my mysterious nature (which they're not already, by the way). Ferrell is the funniest man to ever live as far as I'm concerned and any movie he releases, as long as it is a comedy, I see. It's automatic-- gotta be.

#1 - Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd is f-in hilarious. He has been in cult hits like "Wet Hot American Summer," blockbusters like "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," indie films like "The 'O' In Ohio," and, of course, marrying Phoebe on "Friends." With stellar performances in every film and bit parts in everything from "Clueless" to "A Night at the Museum," Rudd has delivered comedic gold in every way imaginable. This guy is always funny. He was the sensitive guy in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," Brian Fantana in "Anchorman," and as Andy in "Summer" he simply destroyed on both an intentional and unintentional comedy level. I'm not saying he should be the lead in every comedy film, but slip this guy in, give him a one-liner, let him improv, do whatever you gotta do, but get Paul Rudd in your movies because he delivers every single time.

So Here Goes...

A Brief History:

I (Michael) met Alina in Saint Louis while she was interviewing for a job with Urban Outfitter where I was serving time as Housewares Department Manager. Each manager has to choose a Team Leader position, and my initial choice was Alina. Upon unloading the truck prior to the store opening, two girls hauled 40 lbs. boxes from the basement to the floor, not to be confused with "the windows to the walls," one of those girls was Alina and I knew then that I made a wise decision.

Fast forward to Alina being promoted, under my careful and sage-like guidance, to the Manager-In-Training (MIT) position and eventually leaving the Midwest pit that is the STL and heading back to Cali where she received her degree. I, however, remained for a time and then returned to Peoria, IL, where I achieved my degree and grew up and, hopefully, will be moving away from soon. That said, specifics aside, this is the brief history of Alina and Michael's friendship, pardon my third person slip just now.

Anyway, over the course of the friendship we realized we are both somewhat humorous, at least to our parents, siblings and at least one friend, and we are both opinionated, which we have no problem showcasing to everyone. We decided to start our joint blog in hopes of people reading it, liking it, telling their friends and then, to borrow from "Wayne's World 2," that friend would tell two friends, then they'd tell two friends and they'd tell two friends, etc., until eventually those next two friends were writers who thought we were funny and eventually Alina and I would be able to write for Saturday Night Live and help the show return to its former glory.
This, of course, is a delusion of grandeur, but people can dream can't they?

And that's it. We hope you like what we have to say.

P.S. Alina is Polish and a girl I love-to-death and I have an inside joke about a place called "Pink Polish," obviously a nail salon, but the girl, who will remain nameless, thought it was "Polish" with the long "o" sound, as if it were a place that featured citizens of Poland with a slightly pinkish hue, apparently. I'm not 100% on this, though.
Regardless, "your face is Polish" is fun and the name of our joint effort, thanks.
